Shooting jacketed bullets

I am wanting to shoot my 1898 carbine but was concerned about shooting jacketed bullets. Is there a problem in using these or should I stay with cast gas check bullets?

I would say that it depends on the condition of your bore and the amount you want to shoot. If the bore is is not already nearly worn out and you don't intend to shoot a box a day every day 365, then it shouldn't be a problem.
