Documented Serial Numbers?
I see references to documented serial numbers in several of the posts. Are the documented serial numbers published in any of the reference books? I was given an 1898 rifle serial number 200129. Does it have any documented history? As always I appreciate the group's patience with my rookie questions. thanks, Chris

There is a listing of documented serial numbers in one of the appendices in Mallory's book, "The Krag Rifle Story". I also have a more complete listing. Unfortunately, your rifle is not listed in either list. It falls between two rifles that were issued to the Washington National Guard and then turned in. This does not, however, say that yours has the same history.
