Old catalogs and brochures from the 1930-1940 era often have neat graphics, photos, and information.

I have been curious what the Sedgley 'operation' looked like in Philadelphia. A circa 1940 catalog gives an idea.

Wow, in the 1930's, N.R.A. Members could have their D.C.M. purchased 1917 Enfield sent directly from Benicia Arsenal to Pacific Gun Sight Co. for custom work.

I have a M1917 sporter. A great, but heavy rifle in 30-06. My Dad got it as his deer rifle from Sears and Roebuck in the mail before the Gun Control Act of 1968. Those must have been the days. I enjoy reading those old write-ups and how things were done before criminals ruined it for the good guys.

The M1917 I got from my brother last year was purchased in early 1968 out the American Rifleman magazine. Those were the days.

I have to remind myself that some of these catalogs and prices are from the 'Depression Era', when a lot of people had little money and were struggling, (since wages were low and the Dollar had value, prices are relatively high).

The Sedgely Springfield rifles were 'Low Number' receivers. Sedgely Company was re-heat treating questionable metallurgy and re-proofing the actions.

This 'magic' was being performed in the conditions pictured. (Over-head belts powering machines and complicating layout, poor lighting on dreary days, cluttered workspaces ..... just like Springfield Armory).

(IMHO - If I had a Sedgley Springfield, I would refrain from shooting it).

It sure would be fun to spend some time in the 'President's Office', looking at stuff!
