1,000 Krags to Mexico

Here is an article from "The Independent" on April 4, 1912. 1,000 Krags are going to Ambassador Wilson (Woodrow?) for American citizens in Mexico to purchase for $6.25 each. A part of Krag history I know nothing about, but not for long. Who is Zapata? Seems like I seen a movie about this.
