It is never easy with Krags.
I bought a model 1898 rear-sight Leaf and Slide on Ebay and it arrived today.
The Slide is correct. There is no small hole on the left-side. There is a hidden 'blind-hole', on the inside of the Slide, that holds a small spring and 'plunger'. This feature puts tension against the left-side of the Leaf to help keep the Slide in position. (I did not know the model 1898 sight had this feature).
However, the knob that locks the Slide is strange. It is the full .500" diameter, but, it is smooth without Knurling (???). Has anyone seen this before?

Question solved - I drove out the pin on the slide and removed the elevation 'lock-knob' - it appears to be a homemade replacement.

I noticed the knob, though it wasn't easy to see in his pics. Otherwise, I'd have been bidding too.
