Can anyone check for a SRS hit on a 1898 S/N 251017? Thanks so much!

What does SRS stand for and what role does it play?

SRS stands for Springfield Research Service. It's basically searching the Springfield records for information on a specific serial number to see what unit it was originally assigned to. Unfortunately, a very large majority of the records were lost to a fire, so it's really a hit-or-miss thing. Some of the more well versed Krag-sters here can elaborate and provide more insight than I can.

Can anyone check? If yes, could they tell me how to do it. If not, could someone check mine please?
1898 S/N 423027 which if my research is correct would be manufactured in 1902 fiscal year.
Thanks!
