Looking to help identify this old tool

Post by Utte2 »

Hello all-
Green as you can get to the forms.
Hopefully someone one here can answer as to what I have here.
While digging around in a tool box that I had purchased from a estate I came across this action, did a little research and have found that It might have storie behind it much more that I had originally thought....
Markings are a NA 1943-314
Thanks in advance for any insight to its value or historical interest

'Utte2' Welcome to the KCA Forum.

It sounds like you may have the action of a Norwegian "Stomperud" Krag. These are peculiar Krag models that were built or re-built during WW2, under Nazi Occupation.

Photos of what you have will get more information.

Here is a picture of such a rifle:Image

'Utte2' - That is the action from a M1943 Nazi Occupation Carbine. They were made in Norway during 1943 to 1944. Receivers are marked, usually, NA, NB, or NC. #314 is the serial number.

These rifles were crude by Norwegian standards, hence, the label "Stomperud". (Named after a Norwegian comic strip character). The complete rifle looks like the picture, I posted.

The action was designed for the 6.5 X 55mm ('Swedish Mauser') cartridge. Norwegian actions use a Left-Hand barrel thread. Your bolt-handle was altered by someone planning to build a custom rifle. This hurts its value.

IMHO - Your action is just worth its parts value. (Probably $65 to $90).

Butlersranger-
Thanks for the response and appreciate the sharing of knowledge that I'm lacking.
Kinda figured the altered bolt handle would hinder the value.

Thanks again.

And....LEFT HAND THREADS.
Should you want to rebarrel it.
I have a Norwegian barreled action with Wrench markings on the barrel and a "twisted" receiver.
Picked up with several odds and ends years ago.
