Good things come in little boxes

Post by butlersrangers »

Krag 'After Market' sight boxes often contain the original parts that were removed in order to install and use commercial sights.

The box was just a nice convenient place to store the removed parts: magazine cut-off levers, side-plate screws, original front and rear sights, pins and screws.

I have acquired Redfield boxes at a local hardware store and on ebay that had such parts. My best prize was a model 1902 carbine sight that resided in a Pacific sight box.

Sometimes, the boxes also contain old instructions and product information. I find it fun to reunite a commercial sight with original packaging.

At gun shows, check out those little sight boxes. There could be a 'pearl' within!

Attached is a photo of such a 'parts cache' that sold on ebay a couple of days ago. Also, shown is one of my best ebay purchases.ImageImage
