Nice looking stick there! That is a VERY well done sporter. How's she shoot?
Re: Model 99 sporter
Thanks! Unfortunately I don't know the history behind the "sporterization" . I wish I had asked about it while my father was still living. It's very accurate and has taken many whitetails through the years. The action is very smooth but very precise and feels like it's brand new.

Re: Model 99 sporter
Nice looking sporter. Looks like a Bishop stock. The rear sight is a Redfield 102K, also known as a "No-Drill" sight. The Krag front sight post has been removed and an aftermarket ramp sight installed. This was obviously a we done sporter, most likely for hunting purposes. It should prove to be a very accurate rifle, and a fun shooter!
IMHO, the cost of returning this to original condition would far exceed the value... but there's nothing wrong with owning a few Krag sporters too!

Thank you for the information and the advice. After thinking about it, it would have been very difficult for me to actually alter the gun that dad used for hunting whitetails for over 40 years. I'll post some pics of my grandfather's sporterized model 1898, which I believe was not likely a carbine.
