Took the '96 Krag to the range today....

to celebrate her 120th birthday. Fired about 20 rounds at 25 and 50 yards. The old girl could still take a deer if necessary.

That is a beautiful sporter there! Do I see a Weaver scope mount on the receiver side? Sporters definitely have their place in the Krag world... and they're great fun too!!!

Thanks. Yes it does have a weaver side mount on it. I used the scope at the
range, as my eyes are past their prime.

Here's a shot of one of my grandsons shooting the rifle.

The rifle came to me with a 2.5 power SPI brand scope, no iron sights or sling swivels. I put the M1892 rear sight, and M1903 front sight on it, as well as the sling swivels.

The stock had been sanded so much that the front band was loose when the swivel was installed, so I put a strip of leather under the band to take up the excess space.

I was lucky enough to get a bag of 50 Winchester cases at the LGS last year, so I'm in good shape for loading ammo. Been using 4064 and 180 grain round nose bullets.
