Could someone please tell or show me the easiest

way to remove the cut off lever from a 1898 Krag without marring or damaging the rifle? Pictures may help someone like me.

'S.B.' - This should help.

(p.s. - Don't take the cut-off lever apart. There is normally no need to do so. The detent is staked in place and under spring pressure. The Detent can be cleaned & lubricated, while off your Krag, by applying or soaking in penetrating oil, then repeatedly compressing it).Image
