i'm still in the process of having to build a spr armory. i can get.........

1. http://scopemounts.com/index.html?instapics.html
does it stay zeroed?

2. https://kraghaus.com/
i don't like the way it mounts on the barrel and i never had the ier(intermediate eye relief) scope.

3. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1009199766?pid=119028
i know that it will be d&t, but the spr armory action will never meet the orignal barrel or parts.

4. some other scope mount that i (or you) will find.

You are not wrecking a pristine 96 carbine, so no one here will get mad. Most of us are getting old and help with a scope is understood. Looks like the S&K is a new design. If they can provide more pictures, it looks solid and you decide to go for it send us a report. We are always looking for the best stuff.
Some here have some nice looking Krags with a scout scope. They can let you know the pluses and minuses on them. I put a zero magnification red dot on my sporter but it was not built for precision shooting that your 22 Hornet will be capable of.

I think more than a few of us are interested in the 22 hornet out come also. Take pictures and document it for us.

Our father has the S&K first generation on his hunting rifle with no problems with zero in over 30 years. This mount is offset to the left and that takes a bit of getting used to. This one does not interfere with the original safty
I have the Weaver on a number of sporters and like it quite a bit. The mountings vary from nearly dead center over the action to slightly more offset to the left. All require custom safety levers. The more over the action the more the scope interferes with the straight up ejection but a little creative thinking can remedy that.

Figured that some of the members that have "scout scopes" would have chimed in by now. A couple of the advantages will be they are fast on target, and in your case with what I think will be a single shot, easier loading and unloading without the scope in the way. The disadvantages I can think of are not as much magnification on the scope and less choices.

Will you be doing the building your self? Pretty ambitious project.

my gunsmith will do the heavy lifting, while i do smaller stuff. i'm disabled(stroke) but i "know" how to do it. "know" is a matter of speculation :D . now how to do it with one arm is a guessing game. right now, i am sanding the stock(richards gunstock) of a 93 spanish mauser, while i am finishing the stock of a 98 mauser. i have cleaned both the 93 and 98 mauser, to its basic parts. i've done a dayton trigger set on the 96 mauser and a dayton trigger on the 98. i had my gunsmith do a dayton trigger set on the 93 mauser. i have another 93 sp.mauser action that needs a dayton trigger set, i leave it to gunsmith to do. when i told him about the spr armory actions, he produced four rifles and they were 1898 spr armory. 1 was an original rifle, 1 was original carbine and 2 were sporterized in a 22" douglas barrel in 30-40 krag. i should have asked him about the scope mounts, but i didn.t.

next april or june, i'll begin on action and that will be my only thought. it will be deer season next month and that takes priority. :D ;) when deer season is gone(should be mid january 2021) then i'll start up my sanding project.
