Krag photo at Cracker Barrel

Post by Kerz »

On the way home yesterday and we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast in southern KY. Looked on the wall beside me and there was a picture of a troop with a Krag. At first I thought it was a GI but there doesn't appear to be any uniform patches.
So FWIW

Cool picture!
He looks quite young, could that be a cadet with a school rifle?

Interesting picture - Krag rifles got around!

I imagine the guy's collar insignia, buttons, and helmet emblem would be great clues as to context.

Kind of neat finding a picture like that out of the blue. Sure makes you wonder who it is and why. Might have been something written on the back if you're ever given an opportunity to look.

Neat pix. The soldier in the photo looks oriental. Would a japanese soldier involved in the defense of Peking during the Boxer Rebellion have used a Krag? Of course the simplest answer would be a studio portrait. Just a wag.
