I recently heard a noise and opened the gun safe to find my Norwegian Krags and Swedish Mausers shouting at each other (in Swedish and Norwegian I think) about who is the better 6.5 MM rifle.
Figured I should pull them apart and start a test. We'll call it the 6.5 X 55 MM Scandinavian winter shoot off. Norwegian Krags vs Swedish Mausers.
Started handloading ammo and fired the first test series yesterday with two Swedish Mausers to set the baseline. The CG63 and the M96 Marksman's rifles were the test rifles. Both with metallic match sights.
In case you checked the weather channel it has been Minus 5 Degrees F here for the past five days.
The test range is my heated (by wood stove) shop with shooting bench and back window opening to the 100 yard backstop.
Very Scandinavianish.
After some adjustments to zero the sights, we fired several ten shot strings and here are the results. Tomorrow is back to the loading bench and loading a second series to shoot in two similar Norwegian Krags.
Stay tuned for more as the games continue.

Interesting! Keep us posted.
I suspect the "winner" will be the rifle with the best trigger-pull, simplest stock-bedding & recoil lug, and the sharpest sights.
(I'm guessing Swedish Mauser).

Re: 6.5 X 55 MM Krag vs Mauser
The Norg Krags vs the Swedish Mausers test continues. After the Swedish test a few weeks ago, we took two Norwegian Krags out yesterday. The Model 30 target rifle goes head to head with the Swedish CG63. Compare the pictures. The Model 30 Krag is arsenal built as an Olympic target rifle. Both guns in 6.5X55mm. Used the same 140 Gr handload in both M30 and CG63 test. The Krag is the winner so far. Also shot the Norg Krag M/25 sniper version. The results there were disappointing. More work to. Not too sure about the barrel health in the M/25. I'm shooting at 100 yards. Shooting bench and window to the range is on the west side of the heated shop. Enjoy the pictures. All the rifles are fitted with original vintage micrometer rear sights

Re: 6.5 X 55 MM Krag vs Mauser
With the target rifle, you might tighten your groups simply by switching to an aperture front sight insert. The aperture should be large enough to let you center the black bull without squinting.
The bench test of the sniper Krag calls for more extreme measures. Have you slugged the bore? Try removing any extraneous military hardware; barrel bands, sling & swivels, handguard if there is one.

Re: 6.5 X 55 MM Krag vs Mauser
The test group with the Norg M30 target rifle was shot with aperture front sight. That's the only one I have for it. Working on finding a set. Tough to get in North America. There are two styles and several size apertures.
The other rifle, M/25 sniper model will defiantly require more development. Just getting started. But I suspect the barrel in the M/25 is far from pristine. The rifle is too rare to start modifying or replacing parts. Cleaning and load development will be the path for that one. I have had that rifle a long time. It was missing the rear micrometer sight when purchased. Karl Hanavik helped me get the correct sight from his Norwegian shooting friends.
