Well, here it is - the rifle and bayonet I picked up at the auction of Bill Rutter's collection on May 12th. This rifle is in better condition than what many of the auction photos showed. The minute details of these new phone cameras are amazing (and my phone is a 7 year old Samsung Android). You can clearly read the serial number on the receiver of this rifle (387787). The auction catalog got it wrong; they listed it as 387767. Big difference and a total snafu on their part. I also took detailed photos of the bayonet. The number 26 stamped on the guard was the exact same style font as what was on the bayonet for the other BoO&F rifle in this auction. It is really too bad that the rear sight has a rust spot on both the sight base and leaf. Not sure if this could have been caused perhaps by a blood spot - whatever it was, it obscures the number 3 (300 yard) yardage mark on the sight base. Bore is in excellent condition. Hope you all enjoy.

Very nice, thank you for sharing!
'03collector' and 'Wagon Mike' you have certainly helped many of us learn a lot more about BoOF Rifles.
Such rare territory!

WOWSERS!!!!
I have an alternate theory on the rust spot. It is saliva. Someone was drooling over this one!

I think someone stored a wad of Beeman's chewing gum, (Chuck Yaeger style), on the sight-leaf of 03collector's BoOF rifle.
