Re: Highly Experienced Krag Hunter
Jon provided some more pictures of his altered Krag to share with KCA members. He says it is one of his favorite hunting rifles and a fine performer out to 200 yards.
He appears to have re-barreled with an altered model 70 barrel, (re-chambered for .30-40). I am sure everything works better with a Winchester part!
Jon secured the 'tail' of his Redfield 70-KH 'no-drill' sight, by joining it to a Pacific K-1 base, which replaces the Krag cut-off lever.
This is solid and allows smooth cartridge-feed while eliminating 'cut-off' issues. Clever!

Re: Highly Experienced Krag Hunter
Adapting a .30-06 model 70 Winchester barrel to fit and index on a Krag action & chamber .30-40 cartridges required some nice machinist skills.
