I am about twenty years away and creeping up in the off hand for the President's Hundred.
The good news is my Garand shoots real well from the bench.
I don't think I have enough ammo to get good enough. Guess I should go back to gun powder coconuts.

Not too shabby Culp! I totally SUCK in Off Hand, which is why medals frequently allude me!
Re: President's Hundred with a Garand
If you really want to improve your offhand with iron sights, even at an advanced age like most of us elderly flatulents, practice with a .22 rimfire at 25 yards. If you want to simulate a military rifle, find one of the surplus Mossbergs, a Remington 513, or one of the M-1922 or M2 Springfields.
If you are lucky, you might find an old Winchester Winder Musket. The sights were intended to simulate the 1917 Enfield, which is where the M-1 sight originated.
Start with a 5- or 6-inch circle target. When you can hit that, move to a smaller target. Don't start with one of the old NRA 50-foot gallery targets or similar. Those are so difficult to hit offhand that you'll get discouraged.

If you make the president's hundred and decide to use a garand let me know if you need ammunition for it. I have enough to spare for that. If you were in Arizona I would happily coach your offhand. It is my best position. If you want text me and ill fill you in over the phone best i can to help

Thanks Rick
I might just take you up on your offer. There are too many skillets on the fire at the moment, though.

Re: President's Hundred with a Garand
Looks funny but it works
Here is a string at offhand... boring to watch it all. I use them for a look at my mechanics. For example in this i was coming off follow through too quickly.
Regardless if you look at some of the other shooters, they use the same position. Takes the weight of the rifle off your arms. More stable
