Brass Muzzle Cover Price!
Brass Muzzle Cover Price!
I don't see many of these around anymore but one comes up for sale periodically. I was quite surprised at what this one sold for, though. Used to cost 25 cents a piece! I'm not buying anymore at these prices. 5 or 6 bidders on ebay. One bidder really wanted this, it seems.

I have one of those. You suppose I could sell it and retire?
Inflation, when those covers are almost $200.00, we gotta stop telling people with nice looking faux carbines that they are only worth $300.00. Obviously, there are worth at least $301.00 today.

I bought a reproduction from Numrich for $19.95 in December — now the reproductions are $38.08.

Re: Brass Muzzle Cover Price!
If you artificially age a repro, it can look like an authentic one. Brass oxidation can look like age patina!
Re: Brass Muzzle Cover Price!
When you get two bidders with money that want something the skys the limit. There are some minute differences between an original and repro muzzle cover. The spring for one thing. To a trained eye it is hard to match a real 120 year old patina on brass with one that was dipped in vinegar and put outside for a year or two. Although it blocks the front sight blade i wonder how many of these were shot off the barrel by accident?
Re: Brass Muzzle Cover Price!
Good question. I've never seen one with a hole in it, though!
