Hazards of Fall Water Travel

Post by butlersrangers »

Travel on the Great Lakes becomes risky, this time of year, .... high winds, choppy waters, violent storms, and the "underwater panther"!

'Hunza' knows his water demons.

The Ojibwe, Odawa, and Pottawatomie long attributed drownings, lakestorms, and lost craft to this 'underwater being'.
If a storm kicked up, while traversing open water, the crew might toss tobacco, a puppy, or other gifts overboard, to appease Mishipeshu.

On land, we also have Michi-choo choo!
