Mystery Krag

Post by Culpeper »

Guess what kind of Krag this is and win a box of ammo. Aw, who am I kidding. You'll win a handful of pocket lint. I was saving it to knit a sweater for a Christmas gift but I'll make the it next year.

Besides. It's been a couple of slow days on the ol' forum.

It appears to be a model 1899 carbine with a m-1901 rear-sight.
The stock looks to be repaired at the bolt handle 'cut-out' area.

So, what's not shown, that creates a mystery?

Nope. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just a regular 1899. Congratulations! We have a winner! Where should I send the pocket lint?

But could it also be a Model 1898 carbine with the wrong rear sight from this view?

It could have been a model 1898 carbine that was updated to 1899 carbine features.

Give the lint to 'Whig'. He's a "player".

Hopefully, there's enough lint to share!

Shoooooot. (Larry the cable guy voice)

All of you guys are getting sweaters for Christmas this year. I've saving up for a special time and this is it. I was at a low point in life back in 2005 and decided I am going to be a ray of sunshine to the Krag folks. That was a lot of lint. I had to borrow some for the lace fringes.

Wait! Where're you going? Don't run away. I was going to make espresso.

whew. Now I have an empty 40 foot conex since all of the lint is gone and I can't get my deposit back. Something about belly button lint contamination that I missed in the contract.
