1895 norwegian krag

Hello,

I recently purchased an 1895 Norwegian Krag carbine. The bolt is mismatched to the rest of the gun,
and the serial number on the bolt is preceded by a "." . I've been searching to try to determine
what is it's significance. I've seen this on other photos of Norwegian Krags.

Any insight on this?

Assuming it's a round bolt handle, it's from a rifle. Once the rifle serial hit 5 digits, the Norwegians would abbreviate the serial to the last three digits. The leading period was to show the beginning of the serial. Example: rifle serial 123 would be serialized 123, while rifle 12345 would have its parts serialized as .345. Hope this helps, and pictures would be wonderful! Out of curiosity, does your carbine's barrel have a serial number applied?
