New member here, so please go easy on me, for now.
I recently came into ownership of a model 1898 krag rifle that I want to take apart, clean, inspect and repair as needed. The furniture is a bit beat up and the butt plate has major rust on one corner. But overall it appears to be a nice rifle. I might need to replace the rear sight?
I'll be digging through these forums to learn from you folks.
After getting a chance to shoot an M1 Garand recently, I really want to try to see if I can shoot my model 1898!
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Krag Collectors Forum - Welcome!
Welcome to the KCA. We are known for being nice to newbies. We want newbies to stick around for a long time. This older thread section tends to get over looked. If you could copy and past your introduction and info to the "US Military Krags" it will get seen more. Wait till you get some replies on disassembly, there are a couple of tricks to taking down a Krag and not doing damage. If you have good gunsmithing screw drivers it will be most helpful. We see a lot of damage done to screw slots with old hardware store quality screw drivers.
Photos will help a bunch. Some tips on sizing photos were discussed here: viewtopic.php?p=39631#p39631

Yes I have good armorer screwdrivers, and some of the screws are already beat up from previous owners.
I'll post my original message over on the military page. Thanks.
I'll get to adding pictures soon.
Thanks,
Keith

New subscriber welcome! You may not be posting in the best area for many of us to see and respond. If you have any pictures of Krag stuff, we love to see them. Hope we can help you get addicted to one of the great US military rifles!
