Front sight ID?

Need help id'ing this blade please. .05 wide, .220 high, no C mark. Filed down M1986 rifle blade? I was also thinking trapdoor based on height, but the width is wrong per Poyer's book.

Double-check your height measurement. The proportioning in the photo makes your blade appear taller than .220".
It could be a number of filed down Krag blades.

All U.S. Krag blades will measure, approximately, .450 inches from front-edge to rear-edge.

The front-sight blade on my model 1873 Springfield rifle measures about .350 inches from front-edge to rear-edge.
My 1873 blade itself is about .270" tall.

FWIW - There were similar sight blades used on other U.S. military style rifles and on some commercial Winchester models.

(A rifle's front-sight base dimensions and profile, front to rear, dictates the front to rear dimensions and shape of its blade).

Thanks, it is definitely .220 high by a bit over .350 long. Uniform thickness of .055 through out. If not for the thickness, I'd say an 1873 trapdoor. Poyer's book says those were .090 wide.

The exposed portion, of my model 1873 Springfield front-sight blade, measures .057" thick. That thickness appears to extend into the sight-base.

(I have no clue as to what Poyer measured to get a .090" dimension).

I have never needed to remove a model 1873 sight-blade from its base.

It certainly appears that the lower section of a model 1873 Springfield sight blade is much thicker than the exposed upper part.
(Joe Poyer's dimensions seem reasonable).
