Someone who has a Type 03 FFL license can buy C&R firearms, Curio and Relic, without having to go through a regular FFL license holder. C&R firearms are generally 50 years old and older. The list is constantly being updated based on more eligible firearms added. Many collectors have C&R licenses. You still need to follow specific laws and rules and keep all of your firearms in a book per BATFE guidelines but you can sure save a lot of transfer fees by doing the work yourself. There are additional firearms eligible for this list based on specific requirements.
So, C&R firearms are different than antique firearms.

Re: Interesting Listing on ebay redefines "Receiver"
FWIW - This Krag "bolt housing" was greatly altered.
It was narrowed by removing the 'structures' that hinge the magazine-gate and hold the follower-arm assembly.
Metal was also thinned from the bottom of the "housing" and the trigger recess looks messed with.
This was likely done by a civilian so that the finished rifle had more of the slim look of a 1903 Springfield sporting rifle.

So, this would be a single shot "bolt housing" I suppose?

Re: Interesting Listing on ebay redefines "Receiver"
Actually, this altered receiver ... err 'bolt housing' ... may have been a 3-shot hunting rifle.
Over the years, we have seen a couple of cleverly modified Krag hunting rifles (on the KCA Forum), that featured 'blind magazines'.
The magazine-gate was totally eliminated to slim down the action.
The right-side (receiver) magazine-opening and the left side-plate were covered over by the new stock.
A 'hidden' folded flat-spring, kept in place by the stock, fed three cartridges up to the bolt.
This 'folded' spring tensioned the cartridges and also served as the follower.
The 'blind magazine' was loaded by inserting the cartridges, 'base first', into the interior magazine-opening (of the left receiver wall).
Cartridges were inserted one at a time and pushed to the rear and then 'down'.
It sort of worked and made the modified Krag both lighter and slimmer.
Photos show a couple of examples or 'variations' that I found by searching the KCA "Older Threads".

Very clever! I love the bullet shaped follower and magazine spring...err capsule spring.
Chuck are you sure you don't want a stinking badge because you'd make an awesome KCA detective!
BTW: Check out Wikipedia's definition of rifle receiver...our eBay "Bolt Housing" seller wasn't too far off the mark according to Wiki:
