Krag Library

Post by butlersrangers »

Lots of good information on Krags, 1903 springfields, shooting, and how things were done, can be found in contemporary books on competitive shooting & hunting.
I really need to add a copy of Townsend Whelen's 1906 book, "Suggestions to Military Riflemen", to my library.

The first attached photo shows a 1903 'Rod-Bayonet' Springfield rear-sight, which copied aspects of the Krag model 1902 rear-sight.

Thanks Culpeper, those are very nice links.

Sometimes for me, it is extra fun to have an actual copy of a useful book.

What are some good informational/shooting Krag books to add to my library? All I have now is The American Krag Rifle and Carbine 3rd Edition by Joe Poyer.

Poyer's, Mallory's, Brohy's, and Joe Farmer's Krag books should be in every serious student of Krag Jorgensen firearms. Joe Farmer's book might be hard to find, now. It is self published and he's hard to get ahold of. The other three are usually on ebay and Gun Breaker. Mallory's volume 2 is better, if you can find it. More costly, also. Good luck!

Also, KCA forum is the best active site to ask questions and get good answers to everything Krag!

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for them. I did find a copy of the Brophy version, it is listed for more than I paid for my Krag!!!
