Repro Kerr sling.

Post by scottz63 »

Just received a repro Kerr Nobuckl sling. Pretty nice one with aged hardware. I like it and it works well. Looks pretty good too. :)

It looks good. I've never used a Kerr Sling; let us know how it works out for shooting.

(If those are reproductions, the Kerr slings appear well done).

Thanks! A seller on Ebay. It's a repro, but a very good one. Especially for the price. He has several different styles.

The great thing about reproductions is you don't have to worry about tearing it up or abusing it.

Yup. I usually don't go for repro stuff, in fact this is my first repro sling in all the decades I have been collecting. Thing is, original turn of the century Krag slings are hard to come by, expensive, and usually in bad condition. I use my slings to shoot and figured a nice repro was the way to go on this one. :)

The cloth looks to be of better quality than the one I bought, oh 15yrs ago or so. I tried using it once in prone, not over tight and I could see the rivets were pulling through the cloth.

Oh, that's no good. This one is built very well, I don't think there is any chance of that. I have pulled a really tight arm wrap with it and all seems fine so far.

My personal favorite is a nicely crafted leather 1907 sling!

However, I have/had numerous Kerr slings (original & reproduction) and like them very much! They are easy to install, adjust and look good on period correct firearms. I've also found them to be very durable and robust.
