I pulled an image off of the internet of the front of the magazine of a sporterized Krag rifle. I have never seen this many assembler's stampings on a Krag magazine before. There are usually a few there but this sure stumps me as to what was going on. Word, or "letter", salad sure fits.

It must have been a slow week at Springfield Armory with a need to "make work".
That is a pretty bizarre collection of stamps.
The letters on the front of the 'magazine-gate' appear unusual too.
Maybe, they ran out of room on the receiver?

It would be a rare event, to have a week go by on the KCA, without a U.S. Krag 'head scratcher'.

Is the color a function of the photo/camera pic? Or is it the color of the Krag receiver? The color is about right for what we called "Krag purple" back in the '50s and '60s.
