Krag DCM sales document

Post by Cat Man »

This was clipped from another gun collector forum recently. Collector purchased a vintage Krag from an estate
and was provided with the original DCM sales document in letter format.
We often caution new collectors to be skeptical about buying the "story" and better to just buy the rifle.
This is a great example of a very rare document confirming government release and civilian sale from 1933.
How cool is that!

That's neat. It would be nicer if the serial number was on it and maybe the documentation could eventually be rejoined with the rifle. Same thing Butlersrangers found.

Whig is correct. The DCM Krag sales documents appear to authorize a sale, but, do not contain the actual serial number of the rifle or carbine involved in the transaction.

I have seen the document photo that Cat Man posted before; I recall the purchaser's name.

I have different paperwork for an NRA carbine, that the purchaser apparently penciled a serial number on.

That is absolutely cool! And right at the tail in of the great depression. $1.50 meant something in those days.
