That is EXACTLY like mine. I'm just not clear why they would take that little extra step if the Krag bayonet was the intended choice. Perhaps they were MEANT for the 1905, and it just wasn't followed up, exactly as KC said? The bevel would have had NO ill effect on Krag bayonet usage.

That bevel is so subtle, maybe it is present but just not noticeable, in the 'short rifle' photos that I posted?

As Dick Hosmer states, there is no 'downside' to the slight bevel on the Krag bayonet-lug.
