Hello all,
I am new here with a sporterized 1898 that I am in the process of rebarreling and rebluing to use for a classy deer rifle.
Needs a scout mount, Kraghaus seems to be the best product on the market for specifically this purpose.
Their website isn't working at all for me! Please advise!
Thank you in advance for your assistance
(I have access to a knee mill so additional drilled/tapped holes aren't a problem)
WTB: Kraghaus Rail
Re: WTB: Kraghaus Rail
First welcome to the Forum, Idaho. I don't have an answer for you but I could check the link one my end is see if it works for me. What's the link to Kraghaus?
I seem to remember there was a discussion of that particular mount here on the forum in the last year. You could do a search.

As far as I know, Kraghaus is still in business. They are on this forum too! Check out this thread and contact them directly with a message here at KCA:

I scoured this board for any information including that post and was disappointed to see the website still not working for me.

It is not working for anyone else, either. I spent a half an hour doing a deep dive into IP info and it appears the site at this moment in time is defunct. You could do the same research and track down the owner through the phone book and see what is up.

'IdahoSpud281' - Welcome to the KCA Forum.
You mentioned having access to 'milling' equipment and 'rebarreling' your Krag.
You do not need to be tied to original Krag rear-sight hole placement, small screws, and unique threads.
Since you are building a 'sporter', you might consider adapting an available picatinny-rail to your new barrel's contour
and anchor it in place, with several sturdy screws of your choosing.
The Kraghaus system was intended, basically, to temporarily 'scope' a collectable arm, without any permanent alteration.
FWIW - You can go "stronger" with your 'Scout-Scoped' hunting rifle.

Re: WTB: Kraghaus Rail
I have a 1906 that I made a scout. I'm a fan of it. Simple and solid. I put a Leupold 4x high eye relief pistol site on it. I had to have a local gunsmith put a little rail on the site taps and mill out the back of the rail so the scope sat close, but forward of the ejector. I have a garage woodshop, not metal shop and had to pay a little. If you have metal tools, you could probably do it yourself. It's sleek and easy to carry. Nice deer gun. I recommend the setup.

Re: WTB: Kraghaus Rail
The barrel is a Criterion, so it has the original drilled and tapped holes for the rear sight base. Considering the kraghaus rail seemed like a turnkey solution for exactly that, I figured it was perfect. Yes I could probably manufacture my own, but it would not be nearly as svelte or easy.butlersrangers wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 10:49 pm 'IdahoSpud281' - Welcome to the KCA Forum.

If I can't find a kraghaus mount from anyone then this seems like exactly what I'm looking for. Nice rifle! Seems straight forward enough, as a backup I could do this. The fixed 4 pistol leupold is a nice touch, and it seems to be working for you well.MonarchBlack wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:56 pm I have a 1906 that I made a scout. I'm a fan of it.
