Krag Value ?

What would be a fair asking price for a Krag 1898 infantry rifle in the 420,XXX ser. # range in NRA VG. cond. with a CMP/Criterion match grade barrel installed ? ---------- GeezerD

a whole lot lees than if it had been left with the origanial barrel on it, but who knows, we would need to see pictures showing the rifle and it overall condition and all of the markings and if is unaltered other than the match barrel.

I disagree. If the original barrel resembled a sewer pipe, I do believe the Criterion would have enhanced the value somewhat.

This Krag was one of the cleanest I have seen in a long time except for the bore condition. There was an area just in front of the chamber where the rifling was pretty much gone. I just listed it on Gunbroker for $1200.00

I have fired 30 rds of Remington factory loads thru it after having the barrel replaced. At 100yds. it grouped about 3-3 1/2" for 5 shots. ----------- GeezerD
