Just a quick update. I took apart the rear sight and bent it back into place per Butlersrangers recommendation. I also unmounted the rear sight and cleaned what appeared to be 120 years of goop from underneath the sight. Then I reseated the barrel to the action and checked that it wasn't binding in the stock. And, of course, like any idiot, I checked the obvious last -- the front sight is indeed .1415 inches above the mount as opposed to the correct height of .2680 inches above (as Whig indicated). So, I guess I'm in the market for a new front sight blade that is taller. I was hesitant to go down that road as I didn't want to impact the originality of the weapon, but if I had to guess, at some point, the rear sight was replaced and the front sight wasn't matched to what the rear sight height requires. If someone has the correct front sight for sale, please let me know. Thanks again guys. I'm slowly getting this thing straightened out.[/img][/img]
