'Dave':

I checked my Mallory, 'Krag Rifle Story', 2nd edition, appendix.
The closest listed Krag numbers to 37895 were: #37825 and #37918.
Both were Model 1896 rifles, issued in 1898 to Co. M, 51st Iowa Vol. Inf.
(Because Krags were not manufactured or issued in numerical order, this tells Nothing in regard to your Krag).

Fun fact: I grew up in 37918. Fountain City, TN... Wonder how much chance there is the current staff of SRS has found any more Krag numbers?

AFAIK, SRS is just one person, Wayne Gagner, the man to whom the late and greatly admired Frank Mallory "left" the business. I don't know what started it - but he and I do not see eye to eye - one of way less than a handful out of the hundred or so guys I've met over nearly 50 years in this hobby. He is still publishing the magazine, I think, but the letter fees are way up and the waits are said to be lengthy. He has refused subscriptions from people he does not like.

Numbers trickle out, of course, but Frank told me, many years ago, that no significant finds were expected. However, while researching for his book, Joe Farmer apparently found a small-to-modest-sized batch that both Frank and Brophy missed, so you never know. I haven't bought a copy yet, but plan to do so shortly.

Is there some sort of notification or link that leads to Joe Farmer's book? I knew he was working on one, but that is all.

Sent him an email to hold a book. $40 is a lot of money at one time, but I will have extra money later in the month.
