Regardless, I thought that some would find this interesting. President Roosevelt was ordering a special 1903 Springfield with a specified length of pull and a Winchester sight. The Springfield Armory made it, but with some difficulty. Below is a link to the correspondence getting this rifle made to the President's specs in late 1903.
