Adios to "Chuck in Idaho"

Post by Peconga »

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the recent death of our dear friend and colleague, Chuck Wright, aka "Chuck in Idaho". He had been in declining health the last few months, and finally surrendered to cancer on July 6, 2010.

Chuck was a well-known collector of U.S. Krag and Springfield 1903 rifles, and posted frequently on this and other collector boards. He was a founding member of the Krag Collectors Association, and was formerly on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Automatic Weapon Collectors Association. He was reknowned for his encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Krag and Springfield, as well as his enthusiasm and willingness to share that knowledge with others. Chuck was one of those rare people who not only made friends everywhere he went, but also with fellow gun collectors around the world, who never had the chance to meet him in person.

In lieu of funeral services, Chuck's family has planned a celebration of his life on August 28, at Municipal Park in Boise, Idaho. If you can't be there in person, feel free to send a final volley downrange in his honor, or cast a line in your favorite trout stream, or just tip back a cold one on your back porch. He would like that.

Adios, Amigo! You will be missed.

That is VERY, VERY sad news, and it is an honor to be the first to respond to the comment on his passing.

We had corresponded for years, and tried several times to meet at the big show in Reno, NV. He will be missed. Won't say it was totally unexpected, as he had recently discussed liquidating his collection, and that is never a good sign.

Sleep well, my friend.

Always sad to when one of our ranks passes on, especially a founding member. Chuck had a vast knowledge and was always willing to share it.

RIP
