Krag Identity Crisis

Post by Doug Kirkpatrick »

I recently aquired a 1898 Krag and am lost trying to figure out what it is. Any help would be greatly
appreciated
It's a 1898 with a full rifle stock. #4640xx. It has a type 02 sight w/ 3 notches. the barrel measures 22 "
I have Col Brophys book The Krag Rifle and doing my research I end up end up at Looking at Constabulary Carbines, However. they had the end of the barrel turned down to accept the smaller bayonet. this does not have that. This appears to never have been worked on by anyone other than Ordance.
The Blue book mentions School rifles??? It says they were cut down in this country but never had the barrel turned
Any ideas?? Thanks Doug
