I am restoring a Model 1898 Krag Rifle that is a "Cut-Down". The Seller thought it was a Model 1899 Carbine.
Serial #188222. (see 1899 Carbine Forum Question by JimmyJ) I ordered and installed the Magazine Cut-Off. The Handguard that I ordered doesn't fit. The rear portion of the Handguard is too long when the Handguard barrel clamps are lined up. The rear sight doesn't look like it will fit the Handguard rear sight slot??
From what I have gathered the rear sight is a M1892.
Do I have the wrong Model Handguard? Any Suggestions??
