Just acquired a 1898 30 incher, all correct. intoxicating patina, 85%, right markings, a dream. Only unusual feature is the stock date 1903 and serial number 462,XXX. What is the latest known or how many were made?? Different books seem vague. 400,000 plus.
This one has been buried in a black powder collection for 20-30 years. Being also fond of the '03 Springfield guess I will go to Brophy and read the beginning. But can state at least the above number were made. Anyone have higher?? Thanx, tom
