Hey everybody,
My dad gave me a Springfield Model 1896 Krag a few months ago. It is in great condition and shoots dead on. Anyone know the history of this serial number:
37433
Also, any place to get ammo for less than $19 for 20 rounds? Replacement sling?
Thanks, Stinger

Re: Another serial number check and ammunition
Your rifle's s/n is right in the middle of 2 documented '96 rifles that were issued to Co. B, 1st USV Eng., 37432 and 37445. CLOSE......real close, but again, no cigar.
I would assume by your description (great condition) that your weapon did not get into any action but remained stateside.
If you plan to shoot this weapon a lot I would suggest getting into reloading, as the commercial stuff has gotten out of sight high, and no one is manufacturing 220 gr Krag ammo any more. HTH, MW

Thanks Martin. I might start reloading in the future...
