I agree, I would have a hard time taking it out in the field, afraid I would get a scratch or ding.

Your Krag looks almost exactly like my 1898 with a peep sight located where the cut off lever was. Can your Krag chamber multiple rounds or because of the peep sight located where it is has it become a single shot? I just wrote a post about how the cut off works so that more than one round can be chambered by the bolt.
