Lyman manufactured the model 17A front sight in many different configurations as a replacement to give target shooters a front sight with different post and aperture options. The most common version has a dovetail base to fit the M1903 Springfield rifles.
His is a seldom seen 17A set to replace the Krag front sight blade on the pinned base.
I picked it up thinking it was for an '03 Springfield. The original box was damaged when the seller slapped a sticky price tag over the description on the vintage box front. Why do they do that?!! After removing the price tag the faint printing confirmed it is a "Front Sight with nine inserts" and the written word "Krag".
It is not allowed in CMP "As Issued" match shooting but a fun Krag item from target shooting days gone by.

Neat version of the Lyman 'Globe-Sight'. I haven't seen that variation before.

Re: Lyman Target Front Sight
Just for the fun of it, I'd like to have one of those to use along with my Pacific rear sight. Maybe shoot a couple matches at my local club.
