American Legion marked stock

After being 'taken out of service', some Krags continued to be used in Color Guards of Veteran and Fraternal Organizations.
A gentleman on ebay is selling some collectables from a Rochester, N. Y., American Legion Post. A 'marked' Krag stock is among the items.
I think this is an interesting relic of the Krag's continued use. I've tried to put it in some type of context.
