Wowsers, a lot of info. Straight pull bolts that do not work most of the time will let you down some day when it hurts. Now I know.
Since 6.5 converted military riffles were mentioned. I bought a 6.5mm Pacnor barrel for whichever of the 2 1917s is less accurate. A 6.5/06 should be different enough from the regular 30.06 to be worth while. A 270 would really be no different and 25.06 seems to much overbore. Right now a long range project.
