Actually, a lot of people are more civil and probably reassessing aspects of their lives, while this experience is going on.

I suspect a lot of children will treasure this time of increased family contact and interaction.

Most Americans will pragmatically 'break rules' and not be Sheep or Lemmings.
They will make things work and hopefully remember obstructionist actions of some politicians in November voting.

Meanwhile, I need to find more containers to store gasoline in!

We do not need zero population growth. That is a western idea. Other terms for it is cultural suicide. The Mohammadans espouse large families and the idea of supplanting local populations by overwhelming numbers. The Chinese are the same way.

What is really needed is pestilence and global warfare to thin the herd just like any other animal species.

But how much nicer would this planet be if there were half of us living on it. Just the sheltering in place for the last month or two has improved the quality of the air and water everywhere. When my wife and I drove to Cody/Yellowstone I couldnt get over how much bluer the sky is and fresher the air is there compared to the east coast. We tried global warfare in the 1940s and what did it get us?

We may have tried it but it was not Old Testament. That is when God told the Hebrews to go into a certain area and slay every thing on two or four legs and move on in and have a good time.

Back my Titan days we were always dreaming of carpet bombing two particular countries with nukes, three if you count Iran in '79. Would sure beat iron bombs to get the job done. Ah those were the days.

Oh that's right the Old testament has been tried. It's been done in the last couple hundred years. The Turks against the Armenians. The Russians against the cossacks or peasants. The Chinese Communists against there own. The Genocides of Africa. Pol Pot. the Mohammedans against the Jews, Christians, Animists and anybody else who were not A RABs for the last 1600 years. Lest we forget the National Socialists and their ilk. North Korea snce 1950.

And while inadvertant but just as devastating, the introduction of Eastern Hemiphere diseases to the Western Hemisphere in the Age of Discovery.

Oh but we are far better than our animal ancestors. We are sophisticated.

Anyone remember the 1971 film "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston? I saw it at the theater when it first came out and a few times since. It's about a doctor that survives a global pandemic caused by biological warfare agents....sound familiar?

Omega Man was the movie version of "I Am Legend", a book I read back in 1965.

I believe the movie developed the story-line and added to the plot & characters, considerably.

It kind of went from a 'Last Man Alive' virus plague/vampire story to a biological weapons/hi-tech zombie apocalypse scenario. - IIRC

(Will Smith was in a more recent movie, "I Am Legend", which I have not seen).

I liked the book, back when I was in High School.

One of the movies that scared the crap out of me when I was a little kid was The Andromeda Strain. That was about a deadly virus brought back to earth from a satellite or something. It's almost nothing now, in comparison to so many other scary movies but I was a little kid and it left me shaking at night!

The original (black & white) "Human Body Snatchers" and "Night of the Living Dead", now those were scary movies!
