"Artillery Colts" came earlier than I thought

Post by butlersrangers »

The 1895 "Report of the Secretary of War .... " had this gem in it.

I mistakenly believed the 'story', that the shortened "Artillery Colts", were a stopgap that was implemented during the Philippine campaigns.

I also believe the "stopgap" story to be the only one. Live & learn. Now I want one of those dead-ringer repros even more.

Gentlemen,
I once owned two(2) of the so called "Artillery Colt", but alas I sold them along with my remaining Krags. Now, I am the proud owner of one of the new repros. Very nice, but there are a few things that are not quite historically correct. But what the hey, my little darlin shoots quite accurately. I am loading the ctgs. to Frankford Arsenal specs.
