Here are a couple pictures of me shooting the Alvin York drill, in appropriate WWI helmet, using a M1903 rifle and M1911 pistol. This was a drill designed for us by Ken Hackathorn that was done in 2011 as part of his 100th year anniversary celebration we had for the 1911 pistol.

We had to shoot two or three targets quickly with the M1903 which, when it went empty, we had to drop and pick up the M1911 and shoot 5 steel drop targets from back to front. It was a timed drill and the winner won a vintage box of .45 ammo. It wasn't me but I held my own.

If you weren't used to shooting the original M1911s, you would have easily gotten the web of your shooting hand cut from the slide since the beavertail was too short. Many were wearing band aids after this drill!

Ken brought his M1903 even though it was discussed that York most likely shot a M1917.

Hackathorn's at the table in front of all the .45s we brought to shoot that day. (45 -.45s on the table.)

Thank you Alvin York! Make America, and John Browning, Great Again!

Neat Match! Looks like you compromised with a Remington 1903.
