As I promised here are some pictures of my Danish Krag. Which I am so in love with. It was love at first sight. I know she isn't perfect but for the price I think I did great. She has an all matching serial number and looks to be in great condition. I wish the wood was more complete but it's ok... She won't be my only Dane!

I have never owned a Danish Krag model. They do seem to be beautifully made arms.

Kristy, you mentioned something about a missing hand-guard? The Danish Krags have a metal 'jacket' that surrounds the barrel, from breech to muzzle.
The Danes did not use a wooden hand-guard.

It would be nice to see a picture of your complete stock. The Danish Krags have a far different forearm rendering than U.S. and Norwegian Krags.

I'm sorry.. I guess I meant...the stock has been cut down and first lug altered to fit...maybe because it was damaged? It has the full barrel tube....

Nice looking Krag. I have seen that white stuff in the background and it looks cold! BRR!

I wish it would snow more! This is our first "big" snow storm of the season... Seems it snows less and less...but it's been cold! Negative over night and 30s during the day.

Thank you! I just love my Dane! It was love at first sight when I saw her and I had to have her... When I bought her..I knew nothing! Too bad ammo is unavailable! I have yet to shoot her...but I did a complete field strip and cleaning and she is ready to go!

I like your stone wall!

Is the butt-plate on your Danish Krag original?

The only metal missing, 'out-front', is the forward barrel-band.

Your forearm could be restored, by shaping a front section from new wood and splicing, under the rear barrel-band.

A piece of maple, might be a good match.

I disagree. The gun looks extremely dangerous with all kinds of problems. I would be willing to dispose of it for you. All you have to do is send it to: Captain Culpeper, 3040 Krag Lane, American Free State, 99999.

Yeeeeeah. Can't have a thing like that floating around. And just to check whether it is safe to fire I have, um, several cases of ammo for it. I am only thinking of the safety of my fellow man. And if one child is saved by my extended shooting and hunting, I mean, (blubber blubber) testing then it will be worth the sacrifice.

:D

The Danish Krags are so ugly, they are beautiful. I have quite a number of them. Yours will be a fun shooter.

It is a long rifle that someone has cut down, maybe to carbine length. Not an armory job, because it still has the rifle rear sight on it. How long is the barrel?
The butt plate is not original. When whoever cut the barrel, they cut back the stock too. As mentioned by butlersrangers, the Danish Krag long rifle and some
some carbines have the metal barrel shroud and no top handguard. A few carbine models are without the barrel shroud and had wood on top of the barrel
out to the front band. The bolt handle was originally straight.

Someone in the past, with some skill, cut this Dane down to make a "handy" hunting rifle. Not a collector, but a nice looking Dane. Will be loads of fun to
shoot!! You will have to reload for it. I reload for my Danes. They are great shooters, I have taken deer with Danish Krag long rifles, carbines of all models
and sporters.

Enjoy!!!
