Capt. Stanhope E. Blunt

This is a picture of Captain Stanhope E. Blunt of the Ordnance Department. He was on the original "Board On Magazine Arms" which began in 1890 and then in 1893 he was with the "Board On Magazine Arms of American Invention". He was the recorder for both boards. The first board selected the Krag-Jorgensen and the second board did not find a magazine arm of American design to displace it.
