'Matty2694' - Your Krag, #413838, is a model 1898 rifle, that has been 'cut-down' by a past civilian owner for Hunting.

It was assembled around September or October, 1902, at Springfield Armory. The barrel was originally 30 inches long.
Your barrel was cut to 22 inches. A dovetail was cut into the barrel and the original front-sight base was salvaged and neatly soldered into the dovetail.
The front-sight blade is a commercial blade, possibly made by 'Marbles'.

Your stock was cut and shortened, just in front of the rear barrel-band. The forearm has been drastically reshaped, to the point that the finger-groves are gone.
Because your stock was a rifle stock, there is provision for sling-swivels.

Your rear-sight is the rifle version of the model 1902 sight. The swing-up plate with a 'peep-hole' is nicknamed "Sgt. Peep".
The hole has been enlarged, which is a good thing for low light conditions.
The 1902 rear-sight is adjustable for windage, as well as, elevation.

Your Krag should be handy and a fun 'shooter' in the woods or at the Range.
