Krag Collectors Association Forum

I recently read, on another gun forum, that there is a Canadian company offering partially finished Krag stocks.

It looks like their duplicate rifle stock requires a lot of work.

However, they do have an interesting take on the "Blanchard Lathe", eh!

I have no experience with this company or their wood products, but, they list some interesting stuff, currently on SALE.

It was their photo, of a Krag rifle stock being duplicated, that I messed with.

I can't stop seeing that little beaver in the wood chips!

I bought one of the Krag stocks from Prestigious stocks in Canada. I’ve not started fitting the action yet but it does not look too bad. The rear trigger guard screw is not drilled. Both bands will take work as the lower band cut was made with a rounded bit and the wood the upper band slips over is going to require a LOT of sanding.
Outside looks good, sanded smooth. There is absolutely no extra wood at the trigger guard or butt plate tang. I wish they had left extra there. They may be overdoing the exterior sanding. At least it does not have a huge chunk of wood left just in front of the action and the butt plate cut is made. I bought it with the handguard, which is just a little bit wider than the stock.

I’ve not bought from Ross Rifle Restoration. Might give them a try. They list wood other than Walnut.

Maybe they will pay attention to what people want. Maybe forwarding them a link would be good. If the link to my old sporterizinghowto was still viable there are some ideas on getting the trigger guard holes perfect. I still have the photos on my computer if anyone wants to see them i can post them again.

Br, good of you to let ones know about this source of stocks and hand guards. the beaver is pretty funny also.
